Stellate Ganglion Block: Relief for Chronic and Neuropathic PaiN

The stellate ganglion is a bundle of nerves in the neck that influences pain signals, blood flow, and other automatic body functions. When this nerve cluster becomes overactive, it can contribute to chronic pain and a range of debilitating symptoms.

At Canyon Pain and Wellness, our fellowship-trained provider performs stellate ganglion block (SGB) procedures to calm these overactive nerves. We aim to help patients find relief, restore balance, and regain quality of life.

Conditions that may benefit from SGB treatment include:

  • Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS).

  • Complex Regional Pain Syndrome, Types I and II of upper extremities (CRPS I and II).

  • Vascular insufficiencies (Raynaud’s disease).

  • Post-herpetic neuralgia.

  • Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) upper body, arms, or face.

  • Phantom pain in the upper body.

  • Ischemic cardiac pain

  • Trigeminal neuralgia, Bell’s palsy, and orofacial pain

  • Cluster headache, vascular headache, migraine headache.

  • Neuropathic pain syndromes in cancer pain.

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Cardiac arrhythmias, including idiopathic long Q-T syndrome.

Emerging Use for Long COVID Relief:
Stellate ganglion blocks have also shown promise in improving long COVID symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, and shortness of breath. Many patients notice improvement within minutes of the injection.

With over 20 years of experience, Canyon Pain and Wellness provides safe, precise, and compassionate SGB treatments tailored to each patient’s needs. Same-day appointments may be available.

I have been to the Arizona Infusion Center twice, and I wish I could give more than five stars because they deserve more. Tony, Mary, and the crew are just fantastic. They go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable, and all is well, and they also take their time with you while you are in their care, which I appreciate since I like to be listened to. I went with shoulder pain, and Tony took care of it, and my pain was gone; I have recommended a family friend who also got taken care of by Tony and the team, and he is doing well. I will keep on recommending Arizona infusion. They treat you with dignity, are compassionate, and go above and beyond.
